Before we go park-ing, let's get some pea soup for breakfast.

The original plan was not to get up at 10:30 a.m. to start the day, but given our 3:00 a.m. arrival at the hotel we knew we were going to need some sleep before we headed out with two parks to visit this day and lots more driving. We had definitely missed the free continental breakfast at the hotel so, while Kyle and Ashley got dressed and ready, I set out in the car to get a view in the daylight of where we were and if there was food nearby.

I didn't have to look too far because as soon as I drove around the building of the hotel there was a giant windmill staring me in the face. I was intrigued and had to go check it out.

I parked, walked into the building, but was not prepared for what I saw. This place was like a time capsule. There was a gift shop, bakery, bar, and a restaurant along with an upstairs ballroom. Apparently there are two of these restaurants in California built about 1924. The decor had not been updated in at least 50 years, seriously, but I loved how unique it was! I watched as a lady at the counter bought a whole CASE of canned pea soup. I grabbed a menu to check it out and sure enough, apparently they are famous for their pea soup...it was even on the breakfast menu. SOLD! I found our breakfast spot. I hurried back to get Kyle and Ashley.

And by the way, how was the pea soup....

...delicious!!!
