Arches, the Sequel - Park #2
After getting as much sleep as one can get with strangers coming and going on all sides of you, next to one of the only bathrooms on site, we packed up camp, snacked on some breakfast and headed back to Arches National Park. We had run out of daylight the day before and wanted to squeeze in a few more sites before hitting the road.
Our first stop was to the Salt Valley Overlook.
So, apparently these beautiful towering red rocks were all buried at one point millions of years ago and were gradually pushed into the sky through the salt bed. This caused fractures, that with water and wind erosion over time have caused the unique formations and arches that we see today, an ever changing park. Science lesson over, you're welcome (no I did not copy that from the internet).
Our last sights in Arches were San Dune Arch and almost a mile hike to Landscape Arch, a peek at Double Arch and I believe, Pine Tree Arch.
Overall, we loved Arches and would definitely go back. It was our #2 favorite park of this trip. But, the road is calling and we must move onto Capitol Reef National Park.
